Evan and Kaila met in person for the first time on April 2, 2022—carefully choosing a date just after April Fool's Day to avoid any chance of it feeling like a prank. By then, they already felt like lifelong friends, thanks to their nightly 3- to 4-hour FaceTime dates. On April 4th, after their first magical Disney day and a fun-filled hockey date, Evan nervously looked into Kaila’s eyes. She thought he was about to ask her to be his girlfriend. Instead, with a beaming smile, he said, "I love you!" Without hesitation, Kaila said it right back. And just to make things extra official, Evan made sure to ask her to be his girlfriend, too.

The moment Evan met DunKin, it was clear they were destined to be besties. Evan immediately passed the vibe check, charming DunKin with his calm demeanor and playful energy. In no time, DunKin was happily snuggling up to him like they had been best friends forever. DunKin fell in love just as quickly as Kaila did—and from that moment, Evan was part of the family!
Our Long Distance Era
This era was filled with daily FaceTime dates, frequent flights, thoughtful mail, and creative virtual date nights. They were lucky enough to visit each other often, typically every two months, with unforgettable trips to South Carolina, New York, Costa Rica, Las Vegas, and numerous adventures in Florida and California.
This stage laid the foundation for their strong relationship. At times, all they had was the ability to talk instead of being together in person, but it allowed them to create a long-lasting emotional connection. They shared countless meaningful conversations and grew closer with each passing day. Once it became clear that Evan and Charlotte couldn’t move to Florida, they decided the next best step was for Kaila and DunKin to head to California!

Our Living Together Era

When Evan was sent to Asia for work, Kaila took the opportunity to fly to Tokyo and join him for an unforgettable week in Japan! They had an amazing time exploring the vibrant city of Tokyo, indulging in all its culture, and making magical memories at Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. This trip was especially special as it helped them cross off two new Disney parks from their bucket list of visiting all the Disney parks in the world!

Kaila was in Florida for a work trip, completely unaware that Evan had secretly flown across the country to surprise her. Kaila doesn’t make it easy for anyone to pull off a surprise, but Evan managed to do it with the help of her friends, who were all in on the secret! To keep everything under wraps, Evan took extra steps—he turned off his phone’s location, pre-staged photos with DunKin, and even drove to a movie theater with his dad to send Kaila a picture, making it look like he was just going to see a movie. That way, Kaila wouldn’t get suspicious if he couldn’t text during his flight.
The plan was set: they staged a dinner with several of Kaila’s Florida friends at Disney’s Yacht Club, with a casual photo op scheduled right before dinner. As Kaila stepped outside, she was stunned to see Evan standing at the end of the sidewalk. Frozen in place, she stood in disbelief until Evan gestured for her to come over.
As she walked toward him, Evan dropped to one knee, asking her to spend the rest of her life with him. Of course, Kaila said yes! It was the most magical moment, surrounded by friends, and filled with the joy of finally being asked the question she had always dreamed of. The weekend that followed was filled with celebrations around Disney World, making it the perfect start to their happily ever after.
Our Engaged Era
This era has been even more magical, filled with love and excitement as we celebrated our engagement with the people who mean the most to us. Our #1 fan, Charlotte, was absolutely thrilled—after spending the entire year before asking her daddy, "Why haven’t you asked Kaila to marry you yet?" and "Hurry up and marry Kaila!" We cherished every moment of this special time, savoring the joy and anticipation as we planned our biggest and best celebration yet—our wedding! We can't wait to celebrate our love with all of you and create memories that will last a lifetime.
